Crystal Johnson was three months away from giving birth to her first child, but didn't live to experience it.
This incident among many more is showing the results of a our lifestyle where a person life and an innocent unborn baby has no meaning.
Manatee County Sheriff's officials say 2 or 3 unknown black male suspects kicked in the front door of her apartment on 5th Street East around 1:20 a.m. The suspects began shooting. Deputies say Johnson's boyfriend, 22 year-old Lawrence "LT" Funsch returned fire and detectives believe that one of the suspects was shot.
Deputies say Johnson was shot as she came out of her bedroom to see what was going on. She was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital where she died.
I'm shocked. I thought if you kept a gun in your house you would be safe. Instead your girlfriend and unborn daughter get killed. I thought guns saved lives. How about it NRA types? What went wrong?
I thought if you kept a gun in your house you would be safe.
Guns are not a guarantee of anything, but in this case it looks like the boyfriend lived so I think they helped at least one person.
What went wrong?
What went wrong was that the girlfriend came out of her bedroom to see what was going on. She was apparently ok inside the bedroom, so if she wasn't being shot at there she should have stayed there.
So Tappy,
What would you have rather happened? The 2 to 3 unknown black males break in, kill Lawrence, the mother, the sister and then kill his girlfriend because she witnessed it?
How in the hell do you know that by his actions of defending himself and his family that he didnt prevent the murder of 3 more people?
Your comment is as asinine and biased toward gun control as anything I've ever read.
What would you prefer happen? We all live as sheep and just pray that the big bad criminal won't hurt us when he breaks in and decides that our lives and rights have no value or meaning?
Why would someone kick in their door and start shooting?
Detectives say the motive is unclear but they do not believe the case is a random act.
I tend to agree. What was going on here?
Buckeye,
I think so also. There is too little info to know whats going on right now. From the initial looks of it, these guys intended to kill someone from the moment they kicked in the door. I'm guessing probably Lawrence. The fact that he had the handgun that readily available leads me to think he thought something might happen.
Who's to say that had Lawrence not had a gun himself, the criminals wouldn't have killed the mother, sister, and Lawrence too?
Can anyone honestly say that the criminals would walk into a house of 4 people, kill the one they were looking for, and leave the other potential witnesses without a scratch on their bodies?
Simple 3 @!$%#s came in and 1 hopefully dies at the hospital but not before the cops ring some info from bastard. I am glad he was able to save the lives of the rest of the family. No Gun = everyone dies. She should have stayed under the bed.
Tappy,
Why are you mocking a double murder? What is wrong with you?

Probably correct. Could be criminal behavior all around. This doesn't strike me as being a pro-gun or anti-gun teaching moment. Criminals use guns, with terrible effect.
sounds like this woman was hanging out with the wrong crowd.
A sad story, but of regional interest. It is curious that the police are being silent on the possible motive here.
Sad that she and her baby die, we have home invasion all the time in Arizona and sometime they kill and other they just leave them tie up. Some time they will come in shotting for they do not know if someone has a gun, but when they generally fire toward the ceiling.
I feel any one who does a home invasion, should not have a court date give them to the family they scare half to death or kill one of their family member. Let them do what ever they want to them as long as it has plenty of pain before they die.
I grew up in Bradenton and this all happened in a really bad area of town. Add to the story that during the investigation, drugs were found in the apartment in sufficient quantities that it wasn't for personal use. The boyfriend has a record for possession with intent to sell.
